ANTHONY - An Anthony man is accused of setting a fire outside his mother’s home while violating a court-issued protective order, according to court documents.
Miguel Pallares, 32, faces multiple charges, including aggravated stalking in violation of a protection order, possession of a controlled substance, arson under $250, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating a restraining order prohibiting domestic violence.

According to a statement of probable cause, Pallares went to the home of his mother, knocked on the door and asked her to come outside. When she refused and said she would call police, Pallares set a table on fire outside the residence.
The incident occurred March 23 at a residence on Accequia Seca Road in Anthony, according to court documents.
Investigators reported finding a cigarette box containing a glass pipe with black residue and a plastic baggie containing a white crystal-like substance. A field test later indicated the substance was methamphetamine, weighing approximately 0.5 grams.
Court documents state Pallares had an active order of protection at the time of the incident requiring him to stay at least 100 yards away from the residence.
Records reviewed by investigators indicate Pallares had been charged on multiple prior occasions with aggravated stalking involving the same residence, with incidents dating from 2022 through 2025.
A Public Safety Assessment filed in the case indicates Pallares is considered a higher-risk defendant, with a recommendation level of PML 4.
Pallares is scheduled to appear for a review of conditions of release hearing at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Doña Ana County Magistrate Court.
