LAS CRUCES - A Las Cruces man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery reported Wednesday night at a Walgreens on East Lohman Avenue, according to court records.

Colby Reutter, 37, is charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery following the incident at the store located at 2300 E. Lohman Ave.

According to a criminal complaint, the victim told police he was approached by Reutter, who allegedly pulled what appeared to be a handgun and demanded his jacket, threatening to shoot.

Court documents state Reutter was accompanied by another man, identified by the nickname “Oso,” who allegedly held a knife and took a backpack from the victim. Both men then fled the area.

Investigators later recovered the backpack and its contents behind the nearby Hobby Lobby, according to a statement of probable cause.

Reutter told investigators he pointed what he described as a plastic CO2 handgun during the incident, but said the second suspect took the backpack, court records show.

Police responded to the Walgreens after the robbery was reported and later detained Reutter, who was arrested on the charges.

The second suspect has not been publicly identified in court records.

Reutter remained in custody as of Thursday, according to jail records.
