City facility warming stations will activate Saturday and remain available through at least Jan. 28 as cold weather continues

LAS CRUCES - The City of Las Cruces will open designated warming stations beginning Saturday, Jan. 24, as freezing temperatures and inclement weather are forecast to continue through Wednesday, Jan. 28.

City officials said the warming stations are available to anyone in need of warmth and shelter during the cold-weather period. The stations will operate at multiple city facilities with varying hours.

Warming station locations and hours include:

Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave.
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday
1 to 5 p.m. Sunday
9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday

Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave.
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday
8 a.m. to noon Sunday (open as a warming station only)
8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday

Frank O’Brien Papen Center, 304 Bell Ave.
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday

Munson Senior Center, 975 S. Mesquite St.
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday

Sage Café, 6121 Reynolds Drive
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday

Benavidez Center, 1045 McClure Road
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday

City officials said staff at each facility are prepared to assist anyone seeking refuge from the cold.
