LAS CRUCES - A language services company has closed its Las Cruces call center, cutting dozens of local jobs as part of a nationwide restructuring following a corporate acquisition.

Tucson-based CyraCom International reported in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filing that 85 employees in Las Cruces were laid off as the company wound down operations this fall. The layoffs took effect Nov. 3 under the terms of the notice.

CyraCom provides interpretation and translation services to hospitals, clinics and other organizations. The closure in Las Cruces was one of several announced across the country after the company was acquired in July by Propio Language Services, a Kansas-based interpretation firm. Public filings and corporate statements show office shutdowns and staffing cuts in multiple states.

The company did not issue public comments about the reasons for closing specific locations.

WARN notices are required when large employers carry out mass layoffs or facility closures. The filings alert workers and state workforce agencies so they can prepare for job searches, training programs or other support.
