DACC students may qualify for $500 stipends for completing aerospace, AI courses

New Mexico NASA Space Grant funding will support eligible students enrolled in select Aerospace Technology and artificial intelligence courses this fall

LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana Community College students enrolled in certain aerospace technology and artificial intelligence courses may be eligible for $500 stipends after successfully completing their classes this fall.

The stipends are being offered through the New Mexico NASA Space Grant AI Development Project and are intended to encourage students to explore AI-enabled aerospace career pathways, prepare for advanced coursework and projects and participate in the New Mexico Space Grant AI Studio and summer learning opportunities.

To qualify, students must enroll in eligible Aerospace Technology, or AERT, and artificial intelligence courses, successfully complete the course and meet project requirements.

Students who qualify will receive the $500 stipend after final grades are posted at the end of the course or courses.

“These stipends are an excellent motivator to not only encourage students to take these courses, but to complete and pass them,” Laura De La Cruz, dean of Advanced Technologies, said in a news release.

De La Cruz said the college anticipates that all courses falling within the eligible aerospace and AI categories will allow students to apply for the stipend.

Stipends are limited and subject to available project funding.
