Las Cruces and most of the U.S. will “spring forward” early Sunday morning

Organ Mountain News report

LAS CRUCES - At 2 a.m. Sunday, clocks will shift to 3 a.m., marking the start of Daylight Saving Time for 2026.

Most smartphones, computers and other internet-connected devices will update automatically. Clocks on appliances, older watches and other manual timepieces may need to be adjusted.

The time change means sunrise will occur later in the morning while sunsets will take place later in the evening across southern New Mexico.

Daylight Saving Time will remain in effect until Nov. 1, when clocks return to standard time.

Fire safety officials often recommend using the time change as a reminder to check smoke alarm batteries and review household emergency plans.

Arizona and Hawaii do not observe Daylight Saving Time.
