DOÑA ANA COUNTY - The Crisis Triage Center in Doña Ana County will reopen on Jan. 1, 2025, at 7 a.m., now under the management of Summit Behavioral Health. Located at 1850 B Copper Loop Drive, the facility will provide immediate care for adults 18 and older experiencing mental health or substance use crises.

The center, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year, will continue its mission to stabilize individuals and connect them with appropriate follow-up care. Services are available without requiring insurance.

“The CTC will again be available for us, our family and friends when we are having a bad day and need some help, and instead of emergency rooms for more urgent situations,” said Jamie Michael, director of Doña Ana County’s Health and Human Services Department.

Available services

The CTC will provide a range of services, including:

  • Peer engagement
  • Nursing assessments
  • Clinical intervention
  • Medical administration
  • Care coordination
  • Transportation

Community and Financial Support

Doña Ana County Commission Chair Christopher Schaljo-Hernandez highlighted the collaboration behind the reopening.

“Summit Behavioral Health has been an amazing partner in this journey, working tirelessly to understand the needs of our residents and learn from the challenges of the past. It has been a long year of conversations and planning, but this is not just a reopening — it is a celebration of what lies ahead,” Schaljo-Hernandez said.

Funding for the CTC’s operations will come from Medicaid reimbursements, County general funds and support from the healthcare assistance fund. During the initial six-month startup phase, the county will cover 100% of operating costs, totaling $1.4 million.

The CTC’s new phone number is 575-489-4440. A dedicated website with updates and resources will be launched soon.
