LAS CRUCES - The League of Women Voters of Southern New Mexico has distributed 14,000 copies of its Voters’ Guide covering races that will be decided in Doña Ana County during the Nov. 3 general election.

The 24-page guide includes local races as well as several statewide contests, including U.S. House District 2, governor and lieutenant governor, secretary of state, commissioner of public lands, attorney general and several judicial races.

League President Liz Rodriguez-Johnson said the publication continues the organization’s longstanding practice of providing voters with a free, nonpartisan election resource.

“The guide gives voters better insight into the candidates’ perspectives and experiences,” Rodriguez-Johnson said. “It also helps voters make informed choices before they cast their ballots during early voting or on election day.”

Printed copies were included in the Oct. 2 edition of the Las Cruces Bulletin and are also available at newspaper stands. The League said copies have been distributed to locations including the Doña Ana County Government Center, Las Cruces City Hall, Branigan Memorial Library, senior centers, banks, schools and several rural sites.

The guide can also be downloaded from the League’s website. Residents may request an electronic copy by emailing lwvsnm@gmail.com.

“The Voters’ Guide is unique because it contains candidates’ answers to several questions posed by the League,” Rodriguez-Johnson said. “Several candidates also provided their answers in Spanish, which is a benefit to many voters in our area.”

Candidate responses are also available through Vote411.org, an election-information tool used by League of Women Voters organizations nationwide. The site includes information on voting deadlines, registration, absentee and provisional voting and voting locations.

The League of Women Voters of New Mexico compiles voting information for races across the state’s 33 counties.

Rodriguez-Johnson said financial support from the El Paso Electric Charitable Foundation, the League of Women Voters of New Mexico Education Fund, private donors and a portion of membership dues helped make the publication possible.
