Public ceremony set for DACC East Mesa campus following 23-week academy

LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana Fire Rescue will graduate 14 cadets during a public ceremony at 2 p.m. April 16 at the Doña Ana Community College East Mesa campus.

Cadets completed a 23-week academy that included training in hazardous materials awareness and operations, emergency vehicle driving, vehicle extrication, wildland firefighting and basic emergency medical technician certification.

After graduation, the new firefighters will enter a one-year probationary period in the field.

The graduating class includes Ricardo Andrade, Garrett Espiritu, Daniel Flores, Bianca Garcia, Alan Gomez, Matthew Granados, Andrew McLellan, Marcus Natera, Alejandro Ortiz, Abel Perry, Angel Perry, Oscar Saenz, Cameron Sowards and Erick Terrazas.
