LAS CRUCES - Residents of Las Cruces and the surrounding areas interested in learning more about electric vehicles will have the chance to get behind the wheel during a special event Saturday, May 3 at New Mexico State University.

The Electric Vehicle Event, sponsored by El Paso Electric, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Parking Lot 100 South, located at 3305 Williams Ave.

A wide variety of electric vehicles will be available for test drives, including the Chevrolet Silverado EV, Rivian R1S, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and other popular models from various manufacturers. Educational representatives will be on site to discuss home, workplace and public charging options.

Participants can reserve a drive time by filling out an online form and selecting their preferred hour. A confirmation email will provide a drive time window, allowing attendees to drive several vehicles within the hour following check-in.

Additionally, participants will receive a separate email from EV Navigator to verify their accounts. EV Navigator is an online platform that offers detailed information about electric vehicles, available incentives, charging options and more. It also provides access to the EV Buyers Guide, a 56-page digital magazine covering electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Walk-up registrations will be accepted on a space-available basis for those unable to secure an advance appointment.

For more information and to register, attendees are encouraged to visit the event’s official site here.
