Three men were found dead in or near Roswell between June 14 and July 29; authorities grouped the cases in a single appeal but did not explicitly say they are connected

ROSWELL - Federal and local authorities are asking the public for information in three homicide investigations involving men whose bodies were found in or near Roswell over a six-week period this summer.

The FBI, Roswell Police Department and Chaves County Sheriff’s Office issued a joint appeal Tuesday seeking information about the deaths of Kent Hoffmann, Andrew Lujan-Huerta and Karl Affsprung.

The FBI did not explicitly say the three homicides are connected, but it grouped the cases together in a single public appeal for information.

Hoffmann, born in 1969, was found dead in the Hondo River Channel on June 14. Authorities described him as a white man with white hair and brown eyes, about 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 145 pounds.

Lujan-Huerta, born in 1979, was found in the Hondo River Channel on July 14 — exactly one month after Hoffmann. Authorities described him as a Hispanic man with black hair and brown eyes, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 175 pounds.

Affsprung, born in 1967, was found July 29 about 10 miles east of Roswell. Authorities described him as a white man with brown hair and brown eyes, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing approximately 155 pounds.

The FBI alert did not provide information about how the men died, possible suspects or whether investigators believe the cases share a common motive or offender.
