Free program offers high school students hands-on experience with federal law enforcement

Organ Mountain News report

ALBUQUERQUE - High school students in New Mexico are invited to apply for the FBI’s 2026 Teen Academy, a free program offering hands-on experience with federal law enforcement.

The Las Cruces Teen Academy is scheduled for June 10–12, while the Albuquerque program will run July 6–10.

Applications will be accepted through April 24.

The program is open to students who will be enrolled in high school during the 2026–27 school year.

FBI officials say the Teen Academy is designed to give students insight into the agency’s work while helping them develop leadership skills.

Participants will engage in activities related to fitness, forensic science and law enforcement operations, along with lessons on topics such as violence prevention, sextortion and hoax threats.

Sessions will be led by FBI personnel, including special agents, intelligence analysts and professional staff.

Officials say students do not need to be interested in a law enforcement career to apply, and all students with an interest in leadership and public service are encouraged to participate.

More information and application details are available through the FBI’s community outreach page. Students with questions can contact AQ.Outreach@fbi.gov.
