Funding

Transparency is a core value at OMN, and we believe our readers deserve to know how we are funded.

Organ Mountain News is built to serve southern New Mexico with independent, community-centered journalism. To keep that work sustainable, we rely on a mix of grants, reader contributions and partnerships.

Collaborative Reporting Projects

We participate in efforts such as the Southern New Mexico Journalism Collaborative, which provide resources for reporting on complex issues that affect the region.

Sponsorships and Partnerships

We may partner with select organizations that support OMN’s mission while respecting our independence.

How We Use Our Funding

  • Paying freelance reporters and photographers who cover stories that matter to our region
  • Reporting on urgent community issues such as flooding, public safety and education
  • Developing tools and resources that make local news more accessible
  • Maintaining OMN’s digital presence without paywalls or subscription barriers

Our Principles

Funding sources never dictate our coverage. Editorial independence is non-negotiable.
