Gas prices in Las Cruces drop below $2.25 at some stations ahead of Christmas Eve travel
Several Las Cruces gas stations are reporting prices as low as $2.19 per gallon ahead of Christmas Eve travel, undercutting county and statewide averages, according to AAA and GasBuddy.

LAS CRUCES - With holiday travel ramping up across New Mexico, gas prices in Las Cruces are giving drivers an opportunity to save before hitting the road — especially those willing to choose their fill-up location carefully.
AAA data shows average prices in line with state norms, but station-level reports tell a different story.
Las Cruces prices today
According to AAA, the average price for regular unleaded in Las Cruces is $2.665 per gallon, roughly in line with the Doña Ana County average of $2.673 and slightly above the New Mexico statewide average of $2.636.
However, GasBuddy reports show several Las Cruces-area stations posting prices far below those averages as of Christmas Eve morning, including:
- Allsup’s, 8951 Mountain Vista Parkway: $2.19
- Love’s Travel Stop, 8893 Robert Larson Blvd: $2.22
- Eagle Qwik Mart, 2110 N Alameda Blvd: $2.24
- Sam’s Club, 2711 N Telshor Blvd: $2.24
Prices reported to GasBuddy are user-submitted and can change throughout the day.

How Las Cruces compares statewide
AAA data shows lower average prices in some northern New Mexico metros:
- Albuquerque: $2.563 per gallon
- Santa Fe: $2.561 per gallon
- Las Cruces: $2.665 per gallon
While Las Cruces’ average price is higher than Albuquerque and Santa Fe, station-level prices in Las Cruces are currently lower than any of those metro averages, giving drivers a chance to beat the statewide trend by filling up strategically.

Why averages and pump prices don’t always match
AAA averages reflect prices across an entire metro or county, while GasBuddy captures what drivers are actually paying at individual stations.
That gap matters on travel days, when choosing where to fill up can mean paying 40 to 45 cents less per gallon than the local average.
Before you hit the road today
Drivers traveling across southern New Mexico or beyond may want to keep a few things in mind:
- Fill up before leaving town. Prices near interstates and major exits are often higher.
- Check prices just before you go. GasBuddy can help identify the lowest nearby stations in real time.
- Expect heavier traffic later in the day. Filling up earlier may help avoid lines at busy stations.

Whether heading west on I-10, north toward Albuquerque or east on US-70, filling up in Las Cruces before leaving town could shave a few dollars off the cost of holiday travel.
