LAS CRUCES - Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed Patricia S. “Susie” Kimble, a Republican and former candidate for the seat, to the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners, filling the District 3 vacancy left by Shannon Reynolds.

Kimble will serve the remainder of the term through Dec. 31, 2026. Reynolds resigned from the commission in December 2025.

Kimble ran for the District 3 seat in 2022 as a Republican, challenging Reynolds. Her appointment will make her the only Republican on the five-member commission. The other commissioners are Democrats.

Kimble has long been involved in behavioral health planning and health care administration in southern New Mexico. She has served on the New Mexico Behavioral Health Planning Council since 2005 and founded the Doña Ana County Behavioral Health Local Collaborative during a statewide behavioral services redesign effort. She currently works as public relations and referral development manager at Mesilla Valley Hospital.

In announcing the appointment, Lujan Grisham cited continued growth and infrastructure demands in Doña Ana County, particularly in the Santa Teresa area, and said Kimble’s background in fiscal oversight and collaboration would support the commission’s work.

Kimble said she was honored by the appointment and described the county as being at a “pivotal moment,” pointing to ongoing economic development and expansion in southern Doña Ana County.

Kimble holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and agricultural economics from Texas A&M University.
