LAS CRUCES - The Las Cruces City Council approved multiple land transfers Monday for affordable housing projects on city-owned properties.

Council approved ordinances authorizing the transfer of several parcels during its May 4 meeting.

One ordinance authorizes the donation of a vacant city-owned parcel at 705 N. Fifth St. to New Mexico Wind Inc., doing business as Crosstown Ministries, for affordable housing development.

Council also approved the conveyance of four city-owned parcels on the 1200 block of North Tornillo Street and at 1040 Campo St. to Tierra del Sol Housing Corporation for additional affordable housing projects.

The land transfers were approved as part of a broader set of real estate ordinances considered during Monday’s meeting.

During the same meeting, City Council also adopted housing and community development plans identifying affordable housing and homelessness among the city’s priorities through 2030.
