Work on three pedestrian corridors expected to last about nine months

LAS CRUCES - Construction on shade structure improvements in downtown Las Cruces is set to begin Monday, April 6, with work expected to continue for about nine months.

The project will focus on three Callecitas, or pedestrian corridors, in the downtown area: Hadley Avenue, Court Avenue and May Avenue.

City officials say the work is intended to add shade structures to improve conditions for pedestrians using the corridors.

Construction is expected to continue through January 2027.
