A fire damaged an apartment building on Dartmouth Avenue in Las Cruces late Tuesday night, displacing some occupants.

Las Cruces firefighters brought the fire under control in about 25 minutes Tuesday night, according to city officials

LAS CRUCES - A fire damaged an apartment building on Dartmouth Avenue late Tuesday night, displacing some occupants, according to Las Cruces fire officials.

Firefighters responded shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to the 400 block of Dartmouth Avenue after reports of an apartment fire.

The first crews on scene reported fire and smoke coming from the front door of a center apartment, according to the city.

Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 25 minutes and searched the apartment for victims, but found none.

Crews also searched and evacuated adjoining apartments. Officials said no occupants or firefighters were injured.

Some occupants were displaced because of fire and smoke damage, according to the city.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
