LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces firefighters assisted Doña Ana County firefighters Sunday afternoon with a wind-driven fire that destroyed a mobile home on Glass Road.

Doña Ana County fire crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 2800 block of Glass Road around 3:45 p.m. April 27. Strong winds and multiple nearby hazards prompted a call for assistance from Las Cruces Fire Department personnel.

Responding units worked to protect a large propane tank, live power lines and at least one nearby home. Officials said winds pushed flames more than 300 yards from the point where the fire began.
