LAS CRUCES - A Las Cruces man is facing a felony charge after police say he sexually assaulted a woman at an apartment on Telshor Boulevard.
Nathan A. Nordorf, 38, is charged with criminal sexual penetration in the third degree (force or coercion), along with misdemeanor counts of interference with communications and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, according to court records.
Las Cruces police began investigating after a woman reported a sexual assault at Nordorf’s residence on S. Telshor Blvd., according to a statement of probable cause.
The woman told investigators she went to the apartment after Nordorf invited her over. She said several people were drinking and smoking before she fell asleep in the living room.
She told police that after waking up in Nordorf’s bedroom, she realized her pants were off and said she felt him touching her. She said she repeatedly told him “no” and tried to push his hands away, according to the affidavit.
The woman told investigators she was able to leave the room and later confronted Nordorf. She said she threatened to call 911, and during the argument, Nordorf took the phone and ended the call, according to court records.
Witnesses told police they heard the confrontation and said Nordorf admitted to the act, according to the affidavit.

Officers later responded to the apartment and detained Nordorf after he refused repeated commands to step outside, according to the statement.
Nordorf was arrested at about 7:11 a.m. March 25 at the Telshor address, according to booking records.
Court records show he is currently being held, initially without bond, at the Doña Ana County Detention Center.
