LAS CRUCES - Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Griggs Avenue and Hermosa Street, leaving one woman dead.

Las Cruces police and fire crews responded to the scene around 3:20 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2025, where a black Chevrolet Impala and a gold Chevrolet Trailblazer were involved in a rollover crash.

Preliminary findings indicate the Trailblazer, traveling south on Hermosa, ran a stop sign and was struck broadside by the Impala, which was heading west on Griggs. The Trailblazer rotated and rolled over at least once.

The driver of the Trailblazer, a 24-year-old woman who appeared not to be wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released pending notification of family.

The driver of the Impala, a 22-year-old woman, sustained no serious injuries.

The intersection was temporarily closed as traffic investigators collected evidence and mapped the scene.
