Residents will join district-based discussions with elected officials and police leaders during the July 29 event at City Hall

LAS CRUCES - The Las Cruces Police Department will host a town hall meeting July 29 featuring Mayor Eric Enriquez, all six city councilors and small-group discussions about public safety.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, in three conference rooms on the second floor of the north wing of City Hall, 700 N. Main St. It is expected to last about two hours.

Residents and business owners will be encouraged to sit at a table assigned to their City Council district and participate in discussions with their councilor, police officials and other community members.

A seventh, citywide discussion table also will be available.

Police Chief Jeremy Story will open the meeting with department news and an overview of year-to-date crime statistics. LCPD deputy chiefs and other department staff also will be available to answer questions and hear participants’ concerns and ideas.

“These town hall meetings are important for our city and for us as a department,” Story said. “We grow and become better as a community when we come together, share concerns and ideas, and learn from each other.”

• District 3 Councilor Michael Harris
• District 4 Councilor Johana Bencomo
• District 5 Councilor Becky Corran
• District 6 Councilor John Muñoz
• Mayor Eric Enriquez

The meeting will not be televised or livestreamed. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

Parking is available on the west side of City Hall and in the parking garage on the east side, which is accessible from Campo Street.
