LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces police are searching for a man suspected in the fatal shooting of a restaurant employee Tuesday night on Foothills Road.

Officers responded around 9:40 p.m. to a report of gunfire at the Sonic Drive-In at 3471 Foothills Rd. When they arrived, they found 20-year-old Benjamin Hernandez, an employee, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that Hernandez and another employee, 21-year-old Luciano Roman Valente Frias, had been involved in an argument or altercation inside the restaurant. At some point, Frias allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired at least one shot, striking Hernandez, police said.
