District says delay is intended to improve safety for students and staff due to overnight cold conditions

LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Monday, Jan. 26, due to forecast overnight freezing temperatures, district officials announced Sunday.

Under the delay, all schools will begin two hours later than their normal start times. Breakfast will still be served, and bus routes will also run on a two-hour delay to reduce the amount of time students spend waiting outside at bus stops.

Staff should report to work according to their contract hours. Employees with extenuating circumstances are encouraged to make arrangements with their principal or supervisor.

District officials said they will continue to monitor weather conditions and thanked the community for its flexibility as LCPS takes precautionary measures to keep students and staff safe.

Families are encouraged to monitor the ParentSquare app, visit the LCPS website, and follow the district’s official social media channels for updates.
