LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces Utilities is warning residents about unauthorized flyers or door hangers asking homeowners to complete and submit information about their water quality.

Utilities officials said Wednesday that the notices were not created, distributed or authorized by Las Cruces Utilities or its water staff.

The city encouraged residents to treat the notices as a scam. Officials said the forms may be intended to collect personal information about homeowners or details about private water systems.

Residents who receive one of the notices should not complete or submit the form and should dispose of it.
