LAS CRUCES - The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department will open registration next week for its youth outdoor soccer league.

The league will offer three coed age divisions — 6U, 8U and 10U — for children ages 4 to 10.

Registration opens online at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, through LasCruces.gov/Play and will remain open through June 6 or until capacity is reached.

Officials said the cost is $50 for new participants, which includes a jersey, or $40 for returning players who do not need a jersey. Proof of age or a Parks and Recreation annual waiver is required to register.

League play is scheduled to begin the week of July 11.

The city said team formation will be handled by Meerscheidt Recreation Center staff and participants must play within their assigned age divisions.

Officials said requests to join specific teams or switch teams will not be allowed. However, siblings in the same household may be placed on the same team if they qualify for the same age division and the request is documented during registration.
