Four candidates will answer audience and League questions Tuesday night at the Mesilla Community Center

LAS CRUCES - The League of Women Voters of Southern New Mexico will hold a public forum for candidates running for the Mesilla Board of Trustees at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Mesilla Community Center, 2251 Calle de Santiago.

Four candidates are seeking two open seats on the board: Veronica S. Garcia, Adrianna Cecilia Merrick, Martha J. Mulvihill and Biviana Maese Cadena. Each candidate will deliver opening and closing statements and answer questions from both the League and the audience.

“This is a great opportunity to hear directly from the candidates,” said League Vice President Beth Bardwell. “Similar to other forums the League has recently hosted, this event will also allow the audience to ask questions about the issues important to them and to the town of Mesilla.”

Early voting for the regular local election began Oct. 7 at the Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 N. Motel Blvd., and continues through Oct. 31. Expanded early voting locations are available through Nov. 1 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On Election Day, Nov. 4, registered voters can cast ballots at any voting convenience center in Doña Ana County. A list of locations is available on the county’s website at donaanacountyelections.com or at Vote411.org.
