52-year-old man dies after being struck on Amador Avenue

A 52-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night near Amador Avenue and Esperanza Street in Las Cruces.

Police say the driver remained at the scene after the Saturday night crash near Esperanza Street

LAS CRUCES - A 52-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night near the intersection of Amador Avenue and Esperanza Street, according to Las Cruces police.

Police were dispatched shortly before 10 p.m. Aug. 1 and found the man suffering from multiple injuries.

He was taken first to MountainView Regional Medical Center and later transferred to University Medical Center in El Paso, where he died. His name has not been released pending notification of his family.

Police said a 2025 Honda was traveling west on Amador Avenue in rainy weather when the 22-year-old driver saw the man walking in the roadway. The driver swerved in an attempt to avoid him but was unable to do so.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The investigation remains ongoing.
