COLUMBIA, Mo. - Former New Mexico State University athletics director Mario Moccia has been named chief executive officer of Every True Tiger Brands, the name, image and likeness organization supporting student-athletes at the University of Missouri.
Missouri officials recently announced the hire. Moccia will begin the role on April 1.
Every True Tiger Brands works to connect Missouri student-athletes with business partnerships and other NIL opportunities. In the new role, Moccia will oversee the organization’s efforts to generate revenue and manage third-party NIL funding connected to Missouri athletics.
Moccia brings more than three decades of experience in Division I athletics administration. He previously served as athletics director at New Mexico State University from 2015 until 2025.
Before that, he was athletics director at Southern Illinois University Carbondale from 2006 to 2014. Earlier in his career, Moccia worked at Missouri as deputy athletics director from 1998 to 2006.
In a statement announcing the hire, Moccia said he looks forward to returning to Missouri and building relationships with businesses and supporters connected to the athletics program.
“Every True Tiger Brands has enormous potential to connect Mizzou's passionate fan base and business community with our student-athletes,” Moccia said.
Missouri officials said Moccia’s background leading major athletics departments and navigating changes in college sports made him a strong candidate to lead the NIL organization.
Moccia was dismissed from his position at New Mexico State earlier this year following a state investigation into misconduct within the university’s men’s basketball program. The investigation found failures in oversight related to sexual hazing and assaults involving players.
Before beginning his administrative career, Moccia played baseball at New Mexico State from 1986 to 1989 and was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 1989 Major League Baseball draft.
