LAS CRUCES - Meerscheidt Recreation Center will close its front entrance and lobby to the public beginning Monday, Dec. 29, as construction and remodeling continue at the facility.

During the closure, patrons must enter the building through the gated outdoor basketball courts on the south side of the building along Hermosa Street. City staff will post signage to direct visitors to the alternate entrance.

The front parking lot will be unavailable while construction crews use the area. Patrons can park on the south side of the building, with additional parking available at Maag Softball Complex, 1542 E. Hadley Ave.

Staff will relocate the information and check-in desk to the multi-purpose room at the rear of the building. The main gym and auxiliary gym will continue operating on their regular schedules.

Restrooms and water fountains will remain unavailable during construction. Portable restrooms and hand-washing stations will continue to operate behind the building during normal hours.
