ALBUQUERQUE - A Mescalero man has pleaded guilty to federal charges for assaulting a woman and causing severe injuries, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico.

Prosecutors said that on June 27, 2024, Myron Edward Blake Jr., 40, an enrolled member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, attacked Jane Doe with a cinder block and a 2x6 board, causing substantial bodily injury.

Blake pleaded guilty to one count of assault resulting in substantial bodily injury. At sentencing, he faces up to five years in prison and will be subject to three years of supervised release.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs investigated the case. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is prosecuting.
