The incident was reported June 19 at a residence on McDowell Street, where Mesilla marshals and Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched for a residential burglary in progress.

Authorities said the caretaker of the residence noticed a door was open and entered the home. The caretaker heard noises upstairs, left the residence and called dispatch.

Deputies entered the home and found Poston naked in a bathtub, according to the Mesilla Marshal’s Office. Deputies covered her with clothing before she was taken into custody.

The owner of the residence, who was out of town, told authorities no one had permission to be inside the home.

Deputies also reported damage inside the residence, according to the marshal’s office.
