LAS CRUCES - The Mesilla Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization is looking for a community member to serve as the Bicycle Community Representative on its Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities Advisory Committee.

The ideal candidate should have an interest in bicycling, safety and health issues, be available to attend bimonthly BPAC meetings and be willing to participate in discussions and working groups focused on bicycle facilities and connectivity.

Any resident of the MPO’s Metropolitan Planning Area is eligible to apply.

BPAC includes citizen representatives for bicycling and pedestrian interests, along with staff from the City of Las Cruces, Doña Ana County, the Town of Mesilla, the New Mexico Department of Transportation and New Mexico State University. The committee provides input to the MPO Governing Board on how bicycle and pedestrian facilities can be improved and expanded across the region.

The committee meets eight months of the year on the third Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Residents interested in serving are asked to submit a letter describing their experience with bicycling issues and why they want to join the committee. Letters may be submitted in person, by email or by mail.

The position is open through Feb. 2, 2026, and may be extended if needed.
