LAS CRUCES - The Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority, working with the Doña Ana County Office of Emergency Management, is urging residents to sign up for CodeRED, a free emergency alert system.

The system allows local public safety officials to send time-sensitive alerts directly to the public by phone, text, email and social media. Alerts may cover severe weather, evacuations, hazardous materials, missing persons and other emergencies that could affect the community.

Officials say registering contact information ensures residents won’t miss critical updates.

To enroll, visit public.coderedweb.com or text ALERTME911 to 99411.
