LAS CRUCES - The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department will auction properties with delinquent taxes in Doña Ana and Luna counties, with in-person bidding scheduled in late March and mid-April.

The state auctions properties when owners fail to pay property taxes for at least three years. Officials notify property owners about overdue taxes and planned sales. If owners do not pay the balance, the state moves forward with the auction.

The Doña Ana County auction is scheduled for 10 a.m. March 30 at 845 N. Motel Blvd. in Las Cruces.

The Luna County auction is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 14 and 15 at the Luna Auction Site, 700 S. Silver Ave. #5 in Deming.

Bidders must register in person starting at 8 a.m. on the day of each auction. Registration closes at the start of bidding.

Successful bidders must pay in full before the auction ends. The state accepts money orders, certified checks, cashier’s checks or personal or business checks accompanied by a bank letter of credit guaranteeing the bid amount.

The state will cancel an auction if all delinquent taxes are paid before the scheduled date.
