Four New Mexico State football players earned Conference USA weekly honors following the Aggies’ season-opening performance at Florida State.
Quarterback Trey Hedden was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Gabe Peterson, Ma'Kyi Lee and Carson Su'esu'e also earned conference recognition

LAS CRUCES - Four New Mexico State football players earned Conference USA weekly honors Monday following the Aggies’ season-opening performance at Florida State University.
Quarterback Trey Hedden was named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week, defensive end Gabe Peterson was selected Defensive Player of the Week, Ma'Kyi Lee earned Offensive Lineman of the Week and tight end Carson Su'esu'e was named Freshman of the Week, the Aggies announced Monday morning.
The awards were selected by a vote of media members.

Hedden leads quartet of honorees
Hedden threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns in his NM State debut, completing 26 of 42 passes for a 61.9% completion rate.
His 272 passing yards were the most by an Aggie quarterback in a season opener since 2017.
Among quarterbacks who played during Week 0, Hedden ranked third in completions and fifth in passing yards. He directed two 75-yard touchdown drives and another 68-yard possession that ended with a field goal.
The two touchdown passes matched Hedden’s career high and marked the 12th multi-touchdown passing game of his college career.

Peterson recorded seven tackles against Florida State, the second-highest total on the NM State defense.
He added one tackle for loss, half a sack and a quarterback hurry.
Peterson’s half-sack came on third down in the red zone and forced Florida State to settle for a field goal.
Lee, Su'esu'e also recognized
Lee earned Offensive Lineman of the Week after receiving the highest overall Pro Football Focus grade among NM State offensive linemen.
His performance included a 76.9 pass-blocking grade.
The recognition came in Lee’s first season opener after he missed nearly all of the 2025 campaign because of an injury.
Su'esu'e, a redshirt freshman from Oakley, California, was named CUSA Freshman of the Week. The tight end caught one pass for seven yards against Florida State.
The four awards give NM State an early sweep across several of Conference USA’s weekly categories following the opening weekend of the season.
