LAS CRUCES - The New Mexico State University museums and collections are hosting the second annual Nightmare at the Museums fundraising event, 6–9 p.m., Friday, October 30, at Kent Hall and Devasthali Hall. There will be Halloween-themed activities for all ages, ranging from kid-friendly stories and crafts to a legitimately scary “haunted lab” tour.

Tickets are $13 per person for ages 13 and up. Kids (12 and under) and NMSU students (with IDs) get in free.

“We had a fantastic time with this event last year,” Kelly Jenks, Director of the University Museum, said. “More than 300 people came and everyone was really impressed with all the cool things we had to offer. Our students are feeling the pressure to make this year’s event bigger and spookier!”

The Nightmare at the Museums event will include a costume contest, a haunted lab, a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt, scary stories for younger kids, a movie screening, lots of creepy crafts and a still life station. There will also be fun activities connected with the different museums and collections, including eerie objects from the Library Special Collections & Archives, bugs from the Arthropod Museum, creepy critters from the Vertebrate Museum, fossils and fossil activities from the Zuhl Museum, flashlight tours of anthropology exhibitions in the University Museum, and exquisite corpse drawings in the University Art Museum.

Organizers promise a ghoulish good time while supporting NMSU’s museums and collections! Ticket holders can pick up wristbands during the event at the courtyard entrance to Kent Hall, on the NMSU campus across from the intersection of Solano Drive and University Avenue (1280 East University Avenue).

Tickets can be purchased here.
