LAS CRUCES - New Mexico State University's Digital Craft Research Lab will host a free risograph printing workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 23, in Room 129 of Devasthali Hall.

The workshop will guide participants through using a RISO duplicator to transform existing artwork or images into prints, posters, zines and other printed materials. The event is open to the public.

Risograph printing is a technique that combines elements of screen printing and photocopying. A specialized machine creates a stencil, called a master, and pushes ink through it onto paper. Different colors are typically printed in separate passes, producing layered images with bold colors and a distinctive, slightly textured appearance.

The Digital Craft Research Lab is an artist-centered public research laboratory operated by NMSU's Department of Art. It combines traditional art-making approaches with contemporary digital tools, providing space for experimentation, learning and creative production.

Participants can expect demonstrations involving photo editing, vector design and artwork documentation.

More information about the workshop is available through New Mexico State University's event announcement.
