New Mexico State University creative-writing professor Brandon Hobson has released his sixth novel, The Devil Is a Southpaw. Set in a 1988 Oklahoma juvenile detention center, the “novel within a novel” examines trauma, art, envy and redemption through the eyes of an unreliable narrator.
