Police identify woman killed after being struck by pickup on Telshor Boulevard

Las Cruces police have identified the woman killed in a Monday night pedestrian crash on Telshor Boulevard and say no charges are anticipated.

Las Cruces police say the 54-year-old woman was crossing outside a marked crosswalk, and no charges are expected.

LAS CRUCES - Police have identified the woman killed after being struck by a pickup truck Monday night on Telshor Boulevard as Charlotte M. Bates, 54, of Hobbs, New Mexico.

Las Cruces police were dispatched to the crash near the 500 block of south Telshor Boulevard shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2025. Officers said a Ford F-150 pickup struck Bates in a northbound lane of traffic.

Bates was transported to Memorial Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries. Police delayed releasing her name until next of kin had been notified.

According to police, the driver of the pickup — a 55-year-old woman — remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said Bates was walking east to west across Telshor Boulevard and was not in a marked crosswalk at the time.

Police said no charges are anticipated.
