Police investigating man’s death near Lions Park

Passerby discovered body near tennis courts early Thursday morning

LAS CRUCES - Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found early Thursday near the tennis courts at Lions Park, 701 W. Picacho Ave.

Officers were dispatched around 5 a.m. June 12 after a passerby reported the discovery. Due to the unknown circumstances, detectives with the Las Cruces Police Department responded to investigate.

The man has not yet been identified. His body will be sent to the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator for autopsy to determine cause of death.

Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in or around the park early Thursday is asked to contact police at 575-526-0795.
