LAS CRUCES - Santa Fe Brewing Co. is planning a Las Cruces taproom in the former Bosque Brewing space on University Avenue, according to documents before the Las Cruces City Council.
Councilors are scheduled to hold a public hearing Monday on a winegrower second-location liquor license for Santa Fe Brewing at 901 E. University Ave., Building 945, Suite 3A.
The license would allow on-premises consumption, package sales and patio service. The New Mexico Alcoholic Beverage Control Division granted preliminary approval June 29.
The address and suite match Bosque Brewing Co.’s former University Public House, which operated there until Bosque closed its remaining New Mexico taprooms in December 2025.
Santa Fe Brewing’s application would bring another New Mexico craft brewery into a space already built around beer service near the New Mexico State University campus.

The proposed taproom sits about 90 feet from the NMSU property line, according to city planning documents.
New Mexico law generally restricts liquor establishments within 300 feet of a school, but allows a local governing body to grant a waiver. City staff says council may determine whether the location is appropriate using considerations such as public health, safety and welfare.
The site previously operated as a brewery and taproom under Bosque Brewing.
City planning staff found the proposed Santa Fe Brewing use compatible with the property’s University District zoning and said the location appears appropriate from transportation, land-use and planning perspectives.
Traffic Engineering also found the proposed license would not appear to adversely affect traffic operations. The commercial complex sits at the northwest corner of University Avenue and Espina Street and has access from both roads.

Council vote Monday
Las Cruces police approved the license request as part of the city review process.
City Council may approve or deny the license following Monday’s public hearing. Under state law, any denial must be based on substantial evidence that the license would adversely affect public health, safety or welfare.
The regular City Council meeting begins at 1 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.
