After three early stops, residents still have three chances to give feedback on the Sheriff’s Office before the series wraps up Jan. 26.

LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana County Sheriff Kim Stewart is continuing a countywide series of public listening sessions designed to gather feedback on the Sheriff’s Office and reflect on commitments made since she was first elected in 2018.

The “Hits & Misses” Community Listening Tour includes six meetings across the county this month. As of Jan. 21, three sessions have already taken place, with three more still scheduled.

According to the county, the tour is meant to give residents a chance to share what they think has worked well, what could have been improved and what priorities should come next for the Sheriff’s Office.

Comments gathered at the meetings will be documented and compiled into a summary that will be released publicly and provided to the incoming sheriff.

“Community input is essential to understanding how we serve our residents,” Stewart said in a statement. “When I took office, there was no formal record of community feedback within the Sheriff’s Office. This process helps strengthen transparency, accountability and continuity, even after my term is up.”

Meetings are open to the public, and residents can attend any session that works best for them.
