LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces Public Libraries will launch this year’s Summer Reading Program on June 1, inviting residents of all ages to “Color Our World” through books, art and creativity.

The free program runs through July 13 and encourages participants to read or listen to books to earn prizes, which can be redeemed from June 8 through July 31. This year’s theme centers around color and artistic expression, with a full slate of activities planned for children, teens and adults.

A community kickoff party is scheduled from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave. The event will feature appearances by Bluey the Dog from E-Mazing Characters and Rentals, therapy dogs, family-friendly games, and booths hosted by local partners. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Branigan Library.
