The Rio Grande Theatre will host a free October 26 screening of The Devil’s Mistress (1965), the first feature film made in Las Cruces, presented by filmmaker Julia Smith and Film Las Cruces.
“The Mold,” a dystopian thriller filmed in Albuquerque and directed by Mason McDonald, has wrapped production with a crew of more than 50 New Mexico residents and a story rooted in the state’s film community.
The feature film In Our Blood — shot entirely in Las Cruces — will premiere Oct. 17 with a Q&A featuring director Pedro Kos and cast members.
The feature film “A Better Place,” a dark comedy thriller shot in and around Las Cruces, wrapped production in May. The project hired more than 100 New Mexico residents and featured local businesses and landscapes.
“Coppers,” a feature thriller filmed entirely in New Mexico, has wrapped production in Socorro. The project employed dozens of New Mexico actors and crew and stars Sean Patrick Flanery, Eric Roberts and Steven Michael Quezada.
“Followed,” a short film about online safety and real-world threats, wrapped principal photography in Las Cruces and employed more than 20 New Mexico residents.
Las Cruces Public Libraries will screen Orville Wanzer’s 1966 film The Devil’s Mistress on June 21 and preview a new documentary on the Acid Western genre, hosted by filmmaker Julia Smith.
NMSU professor Ross Marks produced The Ritual, a horror film starring Al Pacino and directed by Las Cruces film festival alum David Midell. The film opens nationwide June 6, following a local premiere at Cineport 10.
