LAS CRUCES - The Branigan Cultural Center will open a new exhibit, Toys in the Attic, on Saturday, Oct. 18. The show features toys, books and games made between 1900 and the mid-1970s, all from the Las Cruces Museum System’s permanent collection. The exhibit runs through Jan. 24, 2026.

Toys in the Attic explores how toys evolved from simple handmade objects like rocks, shells and wooden carvings to the mass-produced dolls, board games and playthings that defined much of the 20th century.

The exhibit stops short of the electronic era, highlighting the cultural shift that occurred before digital games transformed the toy industry. Visitors can expect an intergenerational experience that encourages nostalgia and reflection on the role of play across time.

The Branigan Cultural Center is at 501 N. Main St. and is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free. The museum is accessible from Roadrunner Transit Route 1 Stop 1. For information, visit the city’s museum website or call 575-541-2154.
