NMSU police identified the pedestrian killed in a Saturday morning collision near Cholla and Triviz as 32-year-old Julio Caro. Alcohol does not appear to be involved, and the driver cooperated with investigators.

University police say the driver remained at the scene and alcohol does not appear to be a factor

LAS CRUCES - New Mexico State University police have identified the pedestrian killed Saturday morning in a traffic collision near the intersection of Cholla Road and Triviz Drive as 32-year-old Julio Caro of Doña Ana County.

The crash happened at about 6:45 a.m. when Caro was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Triviz Drive between Film Street and Cholla Road, just east of the NMSU campus.

Police said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, and no criminal charges are pending at this time.
