LAS CRUCES - A 35-year-old woman was killed late Tuesday after being struck by a train in Las Cruces.

Police said officers were dispatched about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, to railroad tracks near Brown Road, where a southbound BNSF train struck a pedestrian who was walking along the tracks.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her name has not been released pending notification of her next of kin.

The train stopped after the collision and temporarily blocked several intersections while police investigated.
