LAS CRUCES - The Doña Ana Arts Council has set new dates for its Renaissance Arts Faire, moving the event to Saturday, Nov. 8, and Sunday, Nov. 9, at Young Park. Organizers said shifting to the second weekend helps avoid conflicts and keeps the event running smoothly. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The fair remains the council’s largest annual festival, featuring juried art, music, performances, food and family activities.

This fall, the council is also promoting several other community programs. Families are invited to a bilingual story hour for young readers, and artists of all ages can submit entries to a fall arts contest.

The ARTE Lifelong Learning series is underway with “Springsteen,” a course taught by art historian Jim Smith, scheduled for Monday afternoons Oct. 13, 20 and 27 at the DAAC Gallery. All-access passes, which include in-person and Zoom participation, are $100 per person with a $20 household add-on. Zoom-only passes are $80 with a $10 household add-on. Scholarships are available.

DAAC is also highlighting a fundraiser led by Ryan Robson, who is organizing the Valley Sessions music festival. The event brings touring and local artists to Las Cruces with the goal of pre-paying performers so the festival remains free at the door. Last year’s Valley Sessions drew more than 200 attendees and raised nearly $4,000 to support artists and staff. This year’s lineup includes Era Snow, Bar Jay Bar, Pete Posie, Darien Lane, Papayas Con Chile and Velvet Penny, with The McCharmlys headlining. Robson is also seeking business sponsors to help cover venue, logistics and production costs.

For tickets and program information, visit the Doña Ana Arts Council at 230 S. Water St. or through its website.
