LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana County’s new indoor ice skating rink is officially open for the winter season after a short delay caused by electrical work, county officials said.

The rink opened Friday and will operate through Feb. 19 at the County Fairgrounds, offering residents and visitors nearly three months to skate. Regular hours began with a 5 to 9 p.m. session on opening night, though the county says hours and days will vary throughout the season.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we finalized the last steps needed to open safely,” County Manager Scott Andrews said. “We are thrilled to bring this recreational opportunity to our community and look forward to seeing residents enjoy the rink all winter long.”
